As a video journalist Jon Groat helped garner NEWSWEEK the first Emmy nomination of any U.S. magazine for “Voices of the Fallen: The Iraq War through the Words of the Dead.” In 2008, he was nominated for a second Emmy for NEWSWEEK’s original business series “The Crunch.” His work has been honored by the Webbys, The National Press Club, the NY Press Club, the Magazine Publishers of America, the Society of Professional Journalists, GLAAD, MIN and the National Association of Black Journalists.
